Happy Friday everyone! Earlier this week, Deonna from Child At Heart passed on the Liebster Award to my blog. I highly recommend dropping by and hanging out over at her blog. She has so many cute DIY projects, helpful tips and easy, delicious recipes that are under 6 ingredients (say what?? I'm sold!)
Some of you might be wondering "What's a Liebster Award?" The Liebster Award is given to 'up and coming' bloggers who have less than 200 followers. So, what is a Liebster? Liebster is a German word and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Isn't that sweet? Blogging is about building a community and it's a great way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs.
Paired with the award are 11 questions to answer so that other readers can get to know the blogger better. Here are the questions that Deonna gave to me, along my answers.
Why did you begin blogging?
I started this blog when the hubby and I spent a summer in SE Asia. It was a way to document our travels and keep our friends and family up-to-date. Once we returned to the States, the blog became a place to share our day-to-day happenings. And now we're back in SE Asia :-)
What do you miss most about the United States?
If I had to pick just one thing I missed most, it would be the efficiency to which things run. Traffic, mail, electricity, businesses, schedules. Red light means stop. Overnight shipping is a guarantee. Opening hours at 8 am means you will be able to open that door and find all the employees already there. Where we live now, I find myself saying "We'll see..." a lot.
Who is an inspiration to you?
I'm inspired by the real lives of people with real struggles who don't sugar coat the tough times. When I listen to or read someone's story who's willing to share their life (the good, the bad, and the ugly) and also point to the goodness and faithfulness of God, despite any and all circumstances, good and bad, I'm encouraged. There are lots of inspiring people out there with really great testimonies. It's like coming upon buried treasure when you find them.
What is a dream you have for yourself?
To write a book that not only encourages but makes you laugh. I love to laugh and make others laugh.
What Bible verse is most important to you?
Right now, since I'm at home with my toddler most of the time, I try to make Proverbs 24:3-4 true for our home: "By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches."
Where is one place you must visit in your lifetime?
I know I live on the other side of the world and could probably pick one of the exotic places close by but I'm going to have to say the Grand Canyon. People have used that place as a reference point for so many illustrations, I just need to go there and see it for myself.
What is the best thing about being a mom?
There's never a dull moment. Also, having a whole new perspective on God's love for us, his children.
What do you love most about living in Asia?
All of the smiling faces and the DELICIOUS fruit.
Sweet or salty?
Salty. My stomach has no limits when a bowl of tortilla chips or a box of goldfish are put in front of me.
What is your absolute favorite movie of all time?
Home Alone 1 and 2
What have you learned from blogging?
I always thought that if I devoted myself to blogging, it would take away from being a good wife and mom. However, the opposite has actually happened. Writing has helped me to be more intentional with my roles as a wife, mom and follower of Jesus.
Now it's my turn to nominate a blogger for the Liebster Award. I've chosen Iris over at The Colored Married Life. She will brighten your day with all of her colorful organizational tips, fun photos, and warm personality. She also has one of the cutest "About Us" pages that I've ever seen.
Here are my 11 questions for Iris:
1. Why did you begin blogging?
2. How did you come up with the name for your blog, The Colored Married Life?
3. Your blog is so bright and colorful, but do you have a favorite color?
4. What is one of your fondest childhood memories?
5. What do you love most about where you live?
6. How do you relax after a crazy day?
7. What's one of the things you love most about working with the Disney Channel?
8. What's your favorite Disney movie?
9. Coffee or tea?
10. Where is one place you would love to travel?
11. What lasting impression do you hope to leave with people after they've met you?
You can find her answers here.
Great answers! I am going to write that verse down and memorize it because it is so meaningful to me right now as well. I also thought spending time blogging would take me away from being a mom but it's making think of so many things to do with him and my family.
ReplyDeleteYou are SOOOO SWEET !!!! It's an honor !!! Thank you so much!
